This project explores the concept of a circular neighbourhood as a solution to address urban sprawl and its associated issues. It draws inspiration from crofting practices and explores how they can be reimagined for a cooperative farming model within an urban environment. The project aims to maximize density while providing access to external space through the use of MAT architecture. It also aims to create a self-sustaining, social community that incorporates closed-loop, carbon-neutral systems, low-rise high-density living, and cooperative community living. The study is set in Dundee City’s Inner Ring Road, where a disused car park site will be revitalized to establish a thriving pedestrian-focused public realm accessible to everyone. The project also takes into account policies relating to healthy neighborhoods such as the Global Liveability Index and Scotland’s National Planning Framework 4.
